Youth Parliament Journalism Program

Applications for YPJP will open in May 2011. Please express your interest to Joel on joel.clark@ymca.org.au

The YMCA New South Wales Youth Parliament (YP) is a program that provides a way for young people aged 15-18 to put across their ideas about issues that concern them. It is a program where the opinions and concerns of young people in NSW are heard by those who have the power to make laws.

The YP Journalism Program will give three students the opportunity to cover the sittings of Youth Parliament and produce a three-issue newspaper-style publication for distribution amongst participants, parents, Members of Parliament and sponsors—an audience of over 400 people. They will also help the Youth Parliament media team write press releases, conduct interviews and take photographs for external media.

Any first or second year journalism, politics or related studies student, 18 years older is eligible to apply.
