The Bankstown City YMCA offers a wide range of youth, family and community services, along with recreation and leisure opportunities.
The Centre is a multi-purpose facility and our experienced, qualified staff conduct over twenty separate programs and services to cater for the diverse ages, interests and abilities of surrounding communities while building opportunities for individuals, families and community groups to connect, feel welcome and grow in body, mind and spirit.

Activities and Programs
Children's Services
YMCA of Sydney is an organisation committed to listening and actively responding to the community's needs. Our children's programs are designed to impart positive values and partnerships within the wider community. We provide a safe, nurturing environment where your children can develop social skills, learn through play and build personal assets that assist them in becoming positive, healthy young people who reach their full potential. - Before and After School Care
Before School Care is a great program for children of parents who need care before school hours. Children will enjoy unstructured play and stimulating activities that help get them ready for the day ahead.
Our After School Care program offers a wide range of varied and flexible activities. Children can choose from a variety of materials and resources including computers, arts, crafts, music, cooking and sports. With the support of qualified, experienced staff, children select and plan their own activities and experiences. In consultation with parents, staff can also supervise homework.

- Playgroup Childhood fun, learning and friendship are all offered at YMCA's Playgroup. Activities include art & crafts, music, active & passive games and a variety of sports. Children also have free play time to learn and have fun on their own or with their new friends. All coordinated activities are delivered by our experienced and friendly staff.
- Preschool The Little Ys Preschool is an extended hours preschool for 3 to 5 year olds, which caters for 29 children per day. We are open for 47 week of the year, from 8am until 6pm daily. Our educational programming is based on the child’s development and incorporates a school readiness program, excursion, fun days and kindergym. We are open during school holidays except one week in October and four weeks over Christmas. You are not required to pay for public holidays and days that the centre closes.
- Vacation Care
Vacation Care provides care to school-aged children during School Holiday periods. Vacation Care offers great fun and diversity through activity theme days, excursion and incursion options as well as specialty clinics in sports and creative arts.
Each year, families will be required to complete one enrolment form which will cover both before/after school care and vacation care. This form will need to be completed prior to your child starting the service in 2008.

- Before and After School Care
Community Services
The YMCA of Sydney is committed to building strong communities through our community services programs. These programs provide services to youth, the disadvantaged and the disabled. Find out more about Community Services.
- Disability Services
The YMCA supports the development and wellbeing of people with disabilities through a range of programs and services that address both specific needs as well as opportunities to integrate people with disabilities into our general activities and programs.
- Our Intergrated Recreation Program: provides holidays, creative arts, social activities and sports programs to adults with intellectual disabilities throughout South West Sydney.
- Our Flexible Respite Program which provides out of school hours care for children with physical and intellectual disabilities throughout the South West Sydney region.
As the largest provider of child care in the world, The YMCA is developing its services to children with disabilities within our mainstream preschools, before and after school care programs and vacation care programs. Dependent upon the availability of funding and resources, places may be available to integrate children with disabilities and therefore give opportunities to both children with and without disabilities the chance to play and learn in an inclusive environment whilst fostering the individual needs of each child.

- Youthlinx YouthLinx is a prevention and early intervention program that supports young people aged 11-16 and their families to build self-reliance, strengthen family relationships and encourage community involvement. The service is funded by Family and Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaCSIA) and operates out of our Epping and Bankstown centres.
- Disability Services
Gymnastics
Gymnastics is the ideal way to tumble, jump and spin into fun and fitness at your local YMCA! Gymnastics truly is the program to help children develop in body, mind and spirit. Find out more about Gymnastics.
- Artistic Gymnastics The YMCA is a recognised leader in the delivery of gymnastics programs for all ages and abilities. Gymnastics is the ideal way for children to develop strength, coordination and flexibility, motor skills, confidence and self esteem. YMCA of Sydney's gymnastics clubs offer varying levels of the Artistic Gym program.
- Special Needs Gymnastics RSAC in conjunction with the YMCA work together to provide a modified Men’s & Women’s Artistic Gymnastic programs for all athletes with a disability. The program offers year-round sports training and athletic competition to children and adults with intellectual and physical disabilities. Participation is open to anyone ages 4 and older, and programs are designed to serve all ability levels. There are 2 classes available at Bankstown City YMCA, Recreational 5.30-6.30pm and Competitive 6.30-8.00pm. The Recreational Program is designed to apply gross and fine motor skills as well as developing strength, coordination and body awareness through the use of equipment and a fun structured and safe environment. The competitive program provides all of the above plus the introduction of routines that are learnt, remembered and competed at Special Olympic competitions throughout the state. This program allows athletes to build self esteem, confidence and independence along with the physical attributes a gymnastics program offers.
- Sports Acrobatics Team Gym Fun for Everyone! This is a unique team based gymnastics discipline. Stretch, jump and tumble in pairs, trios and fours. Male and female fun for all ages.
- Kindergym
YMCA Kindergym is a physical and social development program for children aged 18mths - 5 yrs, based on gymnastics skills and apparatus. Kindergym kids learn to be stronger in body (motor skills, strength and coordination), mind (creativity, cognitive development and problem solving) and spirit (social development and confidence).
With our unique "themed" program, children experience a new adventure every fortnight like circus, superheroes, the Olympics, jungle safari and more.

- prymeMOVERS Physical activity for mature adults! The prYme movers philosophy embraces three elements: Fitness, Fun and Friendship for the mature population. Fitness is the essence through exercise to music with instructors who have empathy for mature adults. Pryme Movers welcome newcomers and foster and maintain an atmosphere of fun and friendliness to enable one and all to feel that they really belong. Through participation, new and common interests and new and shared experiences, friendships are forged. This in turn enhances the quality of life now and for years to come.
- Yoga Yoga is the ideal way to stretch, relax and unwind while improving your general health and well being.

- Birthday Parties Organised, weather proof and active birthday fun at your local YMCA. We offer a great range of birthday party options run by our friendly and enthusiastic staff and utilising our fantastic facilities.
- Indoor Rock Climbing Rock climbing is an exciting Adventure Activity that challenges participants physically and mentally. Requiring more flexibility and balance than brute strength, climbing is a sport for everyone. Rock climbing is an excellent activity for all ages and levels of ability. It allows participants to set and develop personal goals, challenge themselves and overcome their fears. There is also a special bond between climber and belayer(s), that demands trust, communication, and responsibility.
- Tai Chi Tai Chi is the ancient art of gentle exercise for body, mind and spirit.
School PE
The PDHPE syllabus reflects core YMCA values of developing body, mind and spirit. Youth Leadership
The YMCA has a proud history in developing young leaders. In addition to the provision of specific programs such as the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, youth leadership is a key 'community strengthening promise' that runs through all of the programs that we provide. Find out more about Youth Leadership.
- Future Leaders
YMCA Future Leaders is an annual personal and professional development program for young YMCA staff aged 18-25. The program delivers personal development and leadership sessions whilst focusing on providing a broader understanding of the YMCA, developing skills directly applicable to their work environments and inspiring them to become a positive influence within their centre. The YMCA is committed to the training and development of it’s staff and Future Leaders is just one example of this commitment.
- Marland Cup
Marland Cup is the YMCA’s annual state-wide youth camp that began in 1990 to provide young people with the opportunity to participate in ‘clean, healthy fun’. Forming teams of 6-8, young people compete in various challenges over the course of the weekend. Teams are awarded points for their achievement and at the end of the weekend, these points are tallied. The team with the highest amount of points take home the Marland Cup Trophy. The camp is open to any young person aged 12-17. This year’s theme is “The Marland Cup Games” and the camp will be held at Camp Yarramundi from the 26th-29th September, 2008.
