Yarramundi Is Like Home For Sharna And Tayla
Sunday, 30th May 2010
Sharna and Tayla were removed from a neglectful home as toddlers. Horribly, each was also later abused in out of home care. Following numerous short term out of home care placements the girls were separated in Foster Care.
Like the 16,000 other children in out of home care in NSW, the instability and insecurity of their early childhood has left the girls with day to day struggle of abandonment and post traumatic stress.
The Y’s Siblings Reconnect Program is a chance for the girls to share their thoughts and fears plus their hopes and dreams; and to just be a family.
Sharna plays mum, nurturing, dressing and tucking in her younger sibling. The girls get a much needed lift from their brief window of time together.
