Alex's Inspirational Fight To Fitness Lead Him To A Job With The Y

Alex Ma is an employee at the Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre, with a very inspirational story. Born with Cerebral Palsy, 17-year-old Alex has been a regular user at the centre since 2007. The commitment of both Alex and his personal trainer Robert Griffiths has seen Alex’s health improve dramatically over the years.

His daily attendances lead to a work experience opportunity at the centre in 2009. Having developed a strong passion for health and fitness, Alex later landed a position as a trainee fitness instructor.

The YMCA then gave Alex the opportunity to study his Certificate III in Fitness under the tuition and guidance of the staff, so he can pursue his passion for fitness and become a qualified personal trainer.  Watch his story here
