Your local YMCA is part of one of Australia's oldest and most respected not-for-profit organisations, with a history extending over 155 years. In everything that we do, we aim to build strong people, strong families and strong communities.

In partnership with the Cessnock City Council, the YMCA through the Kurri Kurri Aquatic Centre will provide the very best in aquatic and recreation facilities and programs while building opportunities for individuals, families and community groups to connect, feel welcome and grow in body, mind and spirit.

The Centre offers a range of aquatic, health and recreation programs and services to cater for the diverse ages, interests and abilities of its surrounding communities.

• Aquatics

  The YMCA of Sydney is a leading provider of aquatic facilities and programs with a focus on aquatic education programs for people of all ages and abilities.   • Learn To Swim The YMCA's "Aquasafe" learn to swim programs are about much more than just learning to swim, they are a holistic approach to aquatic education. We run programs year round, including school holiday programs and offer programs for everyone from six months to 99 years.
  • Squads For the competitive or recreational swimmer. Professional coaches provide advanced stroke correction and technique advice. Swimmers of all ages are guided and motivated by coaches to reach personal goals and achieve fitness results.

  • Aqua Aerobics

    YMCA Aqua Aerobics is a low impact aqua fitness program for all abilities. A full cardio work-out without joint stress. Great for recovery and re-introduction to exercise. Ideal for all ages and fitness levels. Most centres also offer pryme-movers aqua for mature adults.

  • Masters Squads Join our Masters Swim Squad, a great way for mature adults to keep fit and have fun.
  • Holiday Splash Our school holiday intensive learn to swim programs. Qualified friendly teachers cover water safety, stroke development and correction in a safe, fun and friendly environment.

  • Whizz Kids

    A specialist learn to swim program designed for children with special needs. Professional instructors & coaches experienced in special needs aquatic education and squad training help students build muscle strength and improve coordination, balance and fitness.

  • Creche Look after yourself while we look after the kids! The YMCA's creche service provides your children with a safe and caring environment, whilst you as the parent are enjoying your own YMCA experience, whether it be your fitness regime, or taking an art class.

  • prYmeMOVERS Physical activity for mature adults! The prYme movers philosophy embraces three elements: Fitness, Fun and Friendship for the mature population. Fitness is the essence through exercise to music with instructors who have empathy for mature adults. Pryme Movers welcome newcomers and foster and maintain an atmosphere of fun and friendliness to enable one and all to feel that they really belong. Through participation, new and common interests and new and shared experiences, friendships are forged. This in turn enhances the quality of life now and for years to come.
  • Pilates Pilates works the body as a whole integral unit. It focuses on good body alignment and good body positioning encouraging the deeper trunk muscle to lengthen and strengthen. Pilates aim to improve muscle strength, core stability, posture, flexibility as well as improving breathing and relaxation techniques. Pilates is suitable for all and can be of great benefit to someone new to exercise or to the experienced athlete.

• Youth Leadership

  The YMCA has a proud history in developing young leaders. In addition to the provision of specific programs such as the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, youth leadership is a key 'community strengthening promise' that runs through all of the programs that we provide.   • Future Leaders

    YMCA Future Leaders is an annual personal and professional development program for young YMCA staff aged 18-25.  The program delivers personal development and leadership sessions whilst focusing on providing a broader understanding of the YMCA, developing skills directly applicable to their work environments and inspiring them to become a positive influence within their centre.  The YMCA is committed to the training and development of it’s staff and Future Leaders is just one example of this commitment.
