How To Make Paper Towel Butterflies

Supplies:

• A tray/cups to hold paint
• Water
• Food colouring
• Droppers, spoons or brushes (anything that can drip the paint)
• Paper towel
• Pipe cleaners or twisty ties or string
• Google eyes (optional)
• Glue

Directions: 

1. In the tray or cups, mix up your food colouring with some water, to your desired colour levels
2. Take a piece of paper towel and lay it on a water proof surface, or cover the surface with a towel or newspaper to protect it
3. Using your chosen painting utensil, begin to drop the water onto the paper towel in different places. The more drops, the more the colours will blend together. Be careful not to saturate the paper too much. 
4. Leave the paper towel to dry
5. Once dry, gather your paper towel in its middle, and spread the sides out to create the wing shape
6. Using a pipe cleaner, twisty tie or string, secure the middle in place. If using a pipe cleaner or twisty tie, bend the ends up to form the antenna
7. Optional – glue on the googly eyes
8. Complete!
